My Dream House

All people see houses as a place to gain shelter and give basic needs such as water and somewhere to get your mail sent lol. But I have more of a different requirement list, which most would find odd.

I see a house as a commitment, same as any commitment that you make to a person. You have the first honeymoon phase, then the slight annoyance, then the stability. It never lasts forever, but the first feeling you should feel is, the excitement, fun, possibilities for the future.

When you feel bored, tired and annoyed at the start, instead of willing to go a 100% to get it… well, it might not be the one you. I always find, if I am more excited about giving up then fighting… I’m not happy.

I forgot myself for a while, by thinking I had to go for the first reasonable property. But as it became hard, I was willing to let it go. I think this is true about relationships as well. The more you are able to ignore the bad, the more likely it will continue to be love (infatuation is a slightly different beast, but we know when we feel highs and then a sudden crash it’s different).

We have problems with the real estate market, where we don’t believe quality is a factor anymore. The reason is because the small quantity and poor quality raised to inflated prices because of the supply and demand becoming difficult.

So then you get the uneducated quickly buying sub-par properties because a dumb bank has already made them stretch their non-existent budget to the limit (not considering future payments) then yelling at them when they suddenly can’t afford the property that they sold the very enticing mortgage, which the poor 18-25 year olds can’t afford and make them declare bankruptcy before they are actually able to comprehend the contracts, then have a huge black mark on their credit.

I dislike the system. I dislike the fact it is hard as an adult that would like to pay off her mortgage before she is 105, having a good salary, good credit rating and a stable job, am being neglected because a teen has said they’ll pay double, then the deal falls through and the real estate agent has to start again. Have they heard the fable of the “The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs,” where a farmer kills the goose to get all the gold at once, only to find nothing and lose his source of wealth from Aesop’s fables.

Anyway, too much time spent on the negative thoughts, lets focus on my dreams and something I could fall in love with:

I love painting. I love telling stories and to do it on walls would be my ultimate expression. I want all my walls to be unusual. Something you think about rather than a boring normal colour. I want my house to have personality and fun. So when you walk in you feel you’re in a type of wacky museum, that’s unusual and wicked.

I want the garden to be magic. I want it to be a fairy garden and have it feel like a make believe world.

I also want my home to be electricity efficient and also smart. So I can connect all my tv’s, laptops and phones to be connected through music, tv and movies. I also might want a tv in the shower, but that’s a once I save enough inclusion.

I’m OCD and love cupboards. I want many. I love storage so much as I can then sort and organise. I need/want storage.

I love books more than any other physical object I could name. I would pick my books over my bed. Books are a magical portal to another world. I need them, I love them and I will never stop reading them. I collect very very much. I like collecting books and need shelves to put them on. I take a year to fill a 6 shelf book shelf, so I might need a few walls to survive me to the end of my life. I currently have filled 4, so need about 20 more and space to put them in.

I want to put in a dishwasher. I fell in love with them and how much easier it is and less water usage to place dishes in a dishwasher and run it once a week! Brilliant!

Solar power is a must. I love the energy efficiency. I honestly don’t use enough (being single perk lol) to apply for grants, but paying more to be energy efficient is good, plus can try for a battery, which means 5 of my 27 concerns for an apocalypse are addressed lol.

Can install double glazing to windows to reduce sound. I don’t know about you, but I suffer from external sound. It distracts, annoys and disturbs me for a long time. I need quiet or non intrusive external stimulants.

Get proper cat flaps for my bubs. They need to go outside at night and would be better to have cat flaps so they don’t have to beg me (who is generally asleep) to let them out.

Less fright about the general neighbourhood. I have had a few people try break in and also a few homeless people who I have helped, but they unfortunately went through my draws and stole a few items which were not valuable from me after I fed and gave them blankets. I also had a weird teenager who was very rude cause a scene on a bus and threaten the buss driver then assault a transit guard.

Be closer to the city. I don’t drive, so need somewhere that I can get a taxi or uber easily to or from. It is so scary for me not to be able to get a service. I once got stuck a million km from my property, with no option but to wait 2 hours. It was a scary situation for me. I felt so much fear that I started walking the 10 hours it predicted me to get to my house. Bad… was so scared.

I can put in my own door with security. I won’t be scared about someone breaking in or if I answer the door, who it is. I can be secure, finally. I can install a doorbell camera and a peephole and a front door/backdoor camera, so I know what’s happening.

I want to build a beautiful guesthouse, but will eventually be my parents house in my back yard. I can make their house dreams come true as well as mine with building them something which will be amazing.
